Welcome back 🥳.
Prior to this current visit to Nigeria, the last time I was home was in 2018 during Easter break. So that was a while ago 😩. See going home is expensive so you have to plan properly.
I missed a lot of things but here are a few I managed to document.
The holiday vibe, you definitely know holiday is around. It is the time most Nigerians outside the country are back for festive season.
Food! Oh My God! Food! I missed the food. From Akara to Amala to Boli to Suya to Ekuru to pounded yam! Everything and more is what Nigerian food is🤩. I ate Everything and anything.
Akara Is one of my favourite food. We have this usually in the mornings as breakfast with bread, oats, custard or Pap (not like in South Africa😂) we call it pap but it is different.

While the Nigerian pap is made from corn and comes out looking like custard after it has been made. Here is a link that details the making process.

Waist beads🤩. This is something I have seen growing up in Nigeria and I always loved them. They mean various things in various cultures. I love them and it was just joy for me to get new sets.
This is a really beautiful accessory that symbolises Femininity, Beauty, Sexiness, Fertility and many more. These were like the ancient days waist trainer 😂, you know when you are gaining weight or bloated, helps with posture as well cause you become more conscious of how the beads seat on you.

The most important of these is Family. I missed my sisters so much, my mum, my cousins🥺. They were definitely the highlight of my time at home. In these moments nothing else mattered.
What is that one thing about your home or culture that you love so much?
